Williamson said Reuters “We just want to have another look at the pitch”.

He added “It’s got to be a different look to what we were used to see here at Basin”.

First choice packer Neil Wagner will be miss out the first test as he awaiting his first child’s birth. The lanky Kyle Jamieson willingly to be handed his test debut though Matt Henry being roped in as a cover for Wagner.

Williamson keeping Wagner’s importance and his absence in mind said “The qualities and abilities brought by Wagner were quite unique but you bring in other guy who came up with different height and targets slightly in different areas”.

Will New Zealand play a spinner in the form of Ajaz Patel or will they opt for an all pace attack with Colin de Grandhomme and Daryl Mitchell who are all round options now.

The grassy pitch and the breeze being the huge factor, Basin Reserve offers a challenging test to batsmen. How far both the teams live up to the challenge will be the most exciting thing to see.
