Musheer Khan, just 19 years and 14 days old, made history by becoming the youngest Mumbai player to score a century in the final of the Ranji Trophy. This big achievement helped Mumbai maintain their strong position against Vidarbha in the final match. Musheer, whose brother is the famous Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan, broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record, which had stood for 29 years.

In the game, Mumbai had the upper hand as Vidarbha struggled to chase a tough target of 538 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. With Vidarbha needing 290 more runs and having lost five wickets, Mumbai looked set for victory. But in cricket, you never know what might happen until the game is over.

Karun Nair played a solid innings, batting for nearly five hours and scoring 74 runs off 220 balls. His partnership of 90 runs with captain Akshay Wadkar (who scored 56 not out) started to worry Mumbai, until Musheer khan bowled an excellent delivery that got Nair out.

Vidarbha was determined to stretch the game to the final day and hoped for the best outcome. Since the pitch didn’t offer much help to the bowlers, Vidarbha’s strategy was to preserve their wickets and take their chances on the last day. But Nair’s dismissal might have dashed their hopes of a strong finish.
