The big-hitter from England, Will Jacks, smashed an impressive 58 runs in just two overs, scoring a total of 100 runs not out in 41 balls. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, the skipper, showed his prowess by handling the spinners well. Their efforts led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a convincing nine-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Despite this being RCB’s third win in 10 matches, they remain at the bottom of the points table. However, this win reassured their fans that the team is determined to fight till the end in their remaining games.
Gujarat Titans managed to score 42 runs in the first six overs, 96 in the middle overs, and 62 in the final overs, setting a challenging target of 201 for RCB. These scores used to be considered average, but not anymore, as the batters have shown in IPL 2024.
Will Jacks’ incredible power-hitting, with a century off just 41 balls including five fours and ten sixes, overshadowed Shahrukh Khan’s 58 runs and Sai Sudharsan’s unbeaten 84, as RCB chased down GT’s 200/3 in just 16 overs.

RCB’s acceleration was remarkable, going from 98/1 after 10 overs to smashing 108 runs in the next six overs, with only one wicket down and 24 balls remaining.
At the halfway mark of RCB’s innings, Jacks was on a slow 16 runs. But things changed when pacer Mohit Sharma was introduced. Jacks capitalized on this opportunity, hitting him for boundaries and sixes, boosting his confidence and leading RCB to victory.
Kohli also played a crucial role, scoring 70 runs, with the majority of them coming against spinners at a strike-rate of 179.41. Despite criticism in the previous match for his slow performance against spin, Kohli proved his ability to adapt and win games for his team.
Kohli stated, “All the people who talk about strike rates and me not playing spin well are the ones who love talking about this stuff. For me, it’s just about winning the game for the team. And there’s a reason why you do it for 15 years – because you’ve done this day in, day out; you’ve won games for your teams.”
