Ahmed Shahzad, a Pakistani cricketer, has been openly criticizing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lately. His frustration began when Pakistan’s performance in international cricket started declining. Things got worse when Pakistan lost a Test match to Bangladesh for the first time ever. Since then, many former Pakistan cricketers have voiced their disappointment, including Shahzad.

After the loss, the Pakistan Cricket Board made changes to its domestic structure. They appointed Waqar Younis, Shoaib Malik, Misbah-ul-Haq, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Saqlain Mushtaq as mentors for teams in the Champions One-Day Cup, as part of their preparation for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Earlier, Shahzad had posted on social media that he was pulling out of the domestic tournament due to favoritism, broken promises, and unfair treatment.

He expressed frustration with how the PCB was spending 5 million rupees on mentors while ignoring the real issues in Pakistan cricket. Shahzad added that it’s disrespectful to domestic players when the PCB claims they lack the resources to make necessary changes. He said he couldn’t support a system that doesn’t value merit and refuses to be part of what he sees as a failing setup.
