Ishan Kishan wasted no time in adapting to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) power-hitting philosophy. After being bought for ₹11.25 crore (USD 1.34 million) in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, Kishan immediately reached out to teammate Abhishek Sharma to understand his role in the team.
“I straightaway called Abhishek and asked, ‘Do I have to come and hit every ball?’ He said, ‘On point! That’s your job—just enjoy,’” Kishan revealed after his blistering 106 off 47 balls* powered SRH to a massive 286-run total against Rajasthan Royals.
Sunrisers Chase History, Fall Just Short of IPL’s Highest Total
Kishan’s innings, featuring explosive partnerships with Travis Head (85 off 38) and Nitish Reddy (72 off 29), nearly saw SRH break their own all-time IPL record of 287 runs

“Someone brought water and said we need to cross this total,” Kishan recalled. “I didn’t know we had a set target, but now we have a goal to chase again. Next time, we will go for it.”
A Fresh Start After a Tough Year
Kishan’s century marks a strong comeback after a lackluster IPL 2024 (320 runs, one half-century) and a challenging year where he lost his BCCI central contract due to non-participation in domestic cricket
“I don’t dwell on bad moments. I focused on what’s ahead—IPL was coming, so I worked hard. My family, fans, and loved ones stood by me, and I wanted to perform for them,” he said.
Backing from Captain Pat Cummins & SRH Management

At SRH, Kishan has shifted to No. 3, a change from his opener role at Mumbai Indians. However, he credits Pat Cummins and the support staff for giving him complete freedom
“Pat keeps it simple. If a player likes to attack, he backs them. There’s no pressure if you get out while trying to hit. That confidence makes a huge difference,” he explained.
With this explosive start, Kishan and SRH look poised for a high-scoring IPL 2025 campaign.
