At the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Gujarat Titans (GT) won the toss and decided to field first against Mumbai Indians (MI) in a crucial IPL 2025 match. The conditions at Wankhede, with its true pitch, small boundaries, and the potential for dew later in the game, make chasing a target much easier. Hence, GT opted to put MI to bat first.

GT made one change to their squad, bringing in left-arm quick Arshad Khan in place of allrounder Washington Sundar. This decision adds extra pace to the GT attack. GT continued to play Rashid Khan at No. 7, a spot that provides opportunities for opposition teams if they manage to take early wickets.

Despite discussions about bringing Kagiso Rabada back into the team, Shubman Gill stated that they wanted to give Rabada a couple more net sessions before including him in the XI. This means Rabada will continue to warm the bench for now.

On the other hand, MI made no changes to their lineup. Corbin Bosch continued to play in place of Mitchell Santner, who had been replaced by Bosch due to a niggle. Santner was not listed as an Impact Player, suggesting he hasn’t fully recovered from his injury.

Both teams are tied on 14 points, with GT having a game in hand. The outcome of this match is significant for both sides as they vie for a top-two finish, which guarantees two opportunities in the playoffs.
