Travis Head is one of my favourites: Abhishek Sharma enjoyed partnership in MI win in IPL 2024

Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma shared that he admires Travis Head as a batsman after the two teamed up to take on Mumbai Indians in a thrilling match on March 27. Their partnership was instrumental as they swiftly scored 68 runs together, helping Sunrisers Hyderabad achieve their highest-ever total in IPL history.

Abhishek Sharma spoke about their impressive partnership during the post-match press conference following their victory by 31 runs. He mentioned that before the game, both Pat Cummins and Daniel Vettori encouraged them to play freely and express themselves.

Abhishek highlighted that he particularly enjoyed batting alongside Travis Head, whom he regards as one of his favorite batsmen.

“In the pre-match meeting, the message was clear: play freely and express yourself. It’s a positive directive from the captain and coach,” Abhishek explained. “During the game, the message remained the same. It was a great experience batting with Travis Head. He’s someone I really admire.”

Didn’t realise it: Abhishek Sharma on scoring fastest SRH fifty

Head and Abhishek would have a small race during the SRH innings as both men would hit quickfire fifties. The Australian batter got to his half-century in just 18 balls. At that time, it was the fastest fifty by a SRH batter.

However, the record wouldn’t last for long as Abhishek would break it a few overs later as he got to the landmark in just 16 balls. Speaking at the press conference, the Punjab batter admitted that he hadn’t realised he got the record and only got to know about it after returning to the pavilion.

“To be honest, I didn’t realise it was the fastest fifty for SRH. I just wanted to go out and express myself. After getting out, I realised it was the quickest. And ofcourse, I enjoyed it,” said Abhishek.

SRH will now face Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on March 31.
