NZ vs IND 2020: KL Rahul says he enjoying additional responsibility of keeping wickets for India

In the first T20 played in Auckland, India humped six Wicket win over New Zealand. KL Rahul scored quick 56 run knock and he said that he is enjoying his new responsibility of taking wickets for the team.

Rishabh Pant suffering from concussion in Mumbai in the first match and hence Rahul was given the responsibility of taking wickets in the ODI series playing against Australia.

As ever, the Kings XI Punjab stars wicket keeping and catching work will be extremely sharp which was a reason to prompt Virat Kohli to assign him with wickets keeping for the New Zealand tour.

At the first T20i post match press conference, Rahul spoke that standing behind the stumps giving him the way to understand the nature of the pitch and the way which he communicates with skipper and bowler becomes easy for him.

For the very first time in the national set up he was given the wicket keeping duties and Rahul reminded that he before also kept wickets regularly for Karnataka and his IPL franchise too.

He says that he really enjoying the added responsibility of wickets taking and stressing the role’s proactive nature keeping him on his toes.

After the first T20I, Rahul told reporter “ To be honest I’m loving it, it might be looking like I am new to the wicket keeping in the international stage but in the domestic cricket I played this role earlier many times for my IPL franchise. “

He added “ it gives me all of the great things of how the pitch is working and depending on this I can pass message to the skipper and  bowlers. You should be pro active while wicket keeping. I’m enjoying doing this job.
