Overseas players who may not be featured in Chennai Super Kings initial playing XI

3 time IPL Champions Chennai Super Kings ended up as runners in 2019 season and this year they are expecting and trying to move a head towards in the coming season. Men in yellow made a roaring comeback after ban of 2 years in 2018 and ended up as champions in the finals defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In 2019 they lost the game with a minor difference of 1 run against Mumbai Indians which was a heart breaking moment for them. Chennai Super Kings do always have a team with a mixture of most experienced supportive players who come by bidding. In the recent 2020 auction, they bidden and bought bowlers like Sam Curran, Josh Hazlewood, Piyush Chawla into the squad by the team management investing lot on them.

The CSK team looks so balanced in all the possible ways and remained as a hot favorite to win the match for the 4th time. This might be his final season of IPL in his career as it seems to be in twilight stages.

CSK looks like a package of talented overseas players and a couple of players to warm the bench at the initial stages. Particularly there are two overseas players who might not be in the initial XI team.

1.Mitchell Santner

Mitchell Santner is a Kiwi all rounder whose heroics balling and batting for his national side made Chennai Super Kings select him for 2018 auctions was drafted by Chennai Super Kings in 2018. He got chance to play only in 4 games in which he picked 4 wickets at an average of 23.50. 2/13 against Mumbai Indians was his best figure in that series. The squad was established with spinners like Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja, Karn Sharma and Piyush Chawla due to which it would be the toughest part for this left arm spinner to be in the starting line up this season.

2.Josh Hazlewood

This 29 year old fastest bowler of Australia is the latest addition to the squad of CSK. He is now currently playing in Big Bash League for Sydney Sixers. There is also a scope for him returning into the Australian Squad for the one day series for limited overs format. This is going to take place in January 3rd week.

In the recent 2020 IPL auction this fastest bowler was bought at his base price of INR 2crore. Due to national commitments brought by Mumbai Indians, he was out from the series in 2015 and this will be a debut IPL season for him.

The bowling starts with Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar while overseas players Dwayne Bravo and Lungi Ngidi in the bowling attack. Bowling all rounder role is fulfilled by Sam Curran. This replicates that there is no scope for Josh Hazlewood in XI of Chennai Super Kings.

But there is a scope of getting chance in the game at any situation due to injuries or pitch conditions or strategies that CSK may face and in such circumstances it is not a big deal to be in the game at any point during the season.
