Reason behind one painted green chair at Eden Park while all the others are in grey

Every one can notice something unusual at Eden Park Stadium which is most famous one in Auckland, New Zealand. It is that when you see the seats one particular seat will be colored in green while rest of them are in grey color. It was the place where New Zealand batsman Grant Elliott hit six in 2015 semi final World Cup which was a match winning hit.

In the World Cup history, 2015 semi finals between New Zealand and South Africa went on with lot of excitement. In the final over whole eyes in the world were on Elliott who was facing Dale Steyn. Hosts were in need of five runs and two balls left where as South Africa needed to secure four runs. Main curiosity is that both teams have never been qualified for the World Cup Finals till then.

In the 40 years of World Cup, Elliott took over his team to the World Cup finals by hitting a huge six . With 84 off 73 balls he remained unbeaten. The seat where the ball of six landed was marked in green color and named as Grant Elliot Seat.

Behind the seat it is written that “ Here Lies the Resting place of Grant Elliott’s mighty Six that propelled the Black Caps on March 24, 2015, into their maiden World Cup Final.”
