South Africa ODI Cricket new era is set with Quinton de Kock as a captain taking over the responsibility for ODIs. After proteas being below par in 2019 World Cup, South Africa Cricket made a decision of fresh start in concern to white ball format.
Graeme Smith South Africa Cricket Director announced that they has full faith on Quinton de Kock’s leadership qualities hence making him as captain and du Plessis will no more continued as Captain of South Africa in ODIs.
Smith said “ He is unique with his outlook and manner in his business way and very street smart tactically.”
Smith is full of confidence on Kock that he would lead South Africa in Cricket to brighter side. He said he will give his complete support to him in whatever way he need to take Proteas cricket forward.
Smith stated “ We are enough confident that the new leadership in him will bring out the best player inside him as a cricketer and can take the team towards bright feature producing best results that South Africans the world over can be so proud of”.
In T20I series against India, South Africa draw 1-1 level with De Kock’s impressive captaincy. He would implement more smart and tricky decisions as the ODI skipper thinking out of the box depending on the situations of the play.
De Kock to TOI “ You always have two plans Plan A and Plan B. If both didn’t work then I would like to come up with new things on filed.”
He added “ The way you play there shows what you see out there. Every now and again I do a little bit of home work but I keep it pretty smart most of the time”.
