In the second ODI against Australia, India top order played together with no.3 place was taken by Virat Kohli. He played good scoring 78 in a company with opener Shikhar Dhawan. Though fell down by four runs less than hundred, he laid strong foundation for making big total in a friendly track.
Despite of the good work by duos, India needs some one who can handle well past 300 mark. Rahul in no.5 place attacked Australian players milking them. In the allotted 50 overs, Rahul’s 52-ball 80 helped in a great way to post 340/6 by India.
Skipper Virat Kohli who faced many criticisms after losing in the series as opener in Mumbai, appreciated and praised Rahul’s contribution a lot.
Kohli said it’s very important to mention the best team you can effort and when you watch KL’s batting performance today, it’s not so easy to leave someone like that out without marking them. It is the best of his bat in India colors I’ve seen till. His maturity and class is shown in that knock. We know what exactly we do in the change room.
Rohit Sharma’s Injury
On Sunday in Bengaluru, hosts chased 36 run victory so comfortably setting up a mouth watering clash but vice captain Rohit Sharma got injured while chasing Australia. He sustained a shoulder injury in a process of stopping a boundary. While chasing Ashton Turner’s hit from sweeper cover, he tumbled down the ropes ending up jamming his shoulder. He looked painful at the moment but not much to sweat as per Kohli’s words.
He said” I asked KL about the injury briefly just now. It is just a left shoulder popped out few times and no tear. So hopefully he might be back in the next game.”
