England bowler Richard Gleeson will take the place of injured Devon Conway in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team.

“Devon Conway won’t be able to play in the Indian Premier League IPL 2024 due to an injury,” the IPL said in a statement.

“CSK has brought in Richard Gleeson to replace Conway for the rest of the IPL 2024. He will join CSK for his reserve price of Rs 50 lakh.”

New Zealand batsman Conway has played for CSK in the last two IPL seasons. He has appeared in 23 matches, scoring 924 runs, including 9 half-centuries, with a highest score of 92 not out.

Rohit and Kohli tormentor

The 36-year-old Gleeson has played for England in 6 T20I matches and has taken 9 wickets. He has also participated in 90 T20 games, where he has taken 101 wickets.

At 34 years and 219 days old, Gleeson became the third-oldest player to debut for England in T20Is. His debut was memorable as he dismissed Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Rishabh Pant in quick succession.

Rohit Sharma top-edged a pull shot, caught by Buttler running backward. In Gleeson’s next over, Dawid Malan took an impressive catch to dismiss Kohli. Pant, attempting to attack Gleeson, ended up with an inside edge, caught by Buttler.
