After a rough patch in IPL 2025, Ishan Kishan finally showed signs of revival during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) five-wicket win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Former cricketers Varun Aaron and Aaron Finch praised Kishan’s maturity in adapting to conditions after his gritty 44 off 34 balls.

Kishan’s Comeback Innings:

Ishan Kishan, who had scored just 33 runs across his last seven innings, bounced back under pressure on Friday night. Chasing a modest 155, Kishan walked in after Abhishek Sharma’s early dismissal and took a cautious route, being 21 off 20 balls at one stage before accelerating slightly to finish at 44.

“He is one of those players who, if he gives himself time at the start, can take it really deep,” Varun Aaron pointed out. “Today, he assessed the wicket first before playing his shots.”

Finch too lauded Kishan’s maturity:
“His ability to read the situation and not be overly aggressive early on stood out. He made sure he assessed conditions, which is never easy when you’re tempted to attack during the powerplay.”

Though Kishan couldn’t finish the match — falling to a mistimed shot — his innings had already set the foundation for SRH’s third win in nine matches.

A Scrappy Yet Valuable Win for SRH:

While the chase stretched to 18.4 overs and SRH lost five wickets, both experts stressed the importance of winning ugly.

“A win is a win,” Aaron said. “SRH, who are usually known for dominant wins, needed a scratchy, hard-fought victory to boost their confidence. This will help them believe they can win even when their top-order doesn’t fire.”

With important contributions from Kishan and a steady finishing touch from Nitish Kumar Reddy, SRH will now look to carry this momentum into the business end of the tournament.
