In the 14th match of the Big Bash League 2023-24, Sydney Sixers clashed with Melbourne Stars at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground.

Toss and Teams

Melbourne Stars won the toss and elected to bowl first. Sydney Sixers’ Playing XI included Josh Philippe, James Vince, Daniel Hughes, Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk, Jack Edwards, Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, Jackson Bird, Joel Davies and Steve O’Keefe. Melbourne Stars’ Playing XI featured Sam Harper, Tom Fraser Rogers, Beau Webster, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Hilton Cartwright, Imad Wasim, Jonathan Merlo, Usama Mir, Haris Rauf and Joel Paris.

Sydney Sixers Innings

The Sixers posted a competitive total of 154/8 in their 20 overs. James Vince was the standout performer with a brilliant knock of 83 runs off 55 deliveries, including 8 fours and 2 sixes. Jack Edwards contributed with a solid 30 runs off 23 balls.

Usama Mir and Haris Rauf starred with the ball for the Stars, picking up three wickets each.

Melbourne Stars Innings

Chasing 155 for victory, the Stars reached the target with 3 balls to spare, finishing at 155/6 in 19.3 overs. Hilton Cartwright was the hero for the Stars, scoring an impressive 47 runs off 30 deliveries. The Sixers bowlers put up a tough fight, with Sean Abbott and Jackson Bird grabbing 2 wickets each.
