ICC approves Pakistan’s budget for Champions Trophy 2025, here is all you need to know

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved the budget for the Champions Trophy 2025, which will be hosted by Pakistan next year.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved the budget for the Champions Trophy 2025, which will be hosted by Pakistan in February-March next year. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet decided if Team India will travel to Pakistan for the event or if their matches will be played at a neutral venue. The ICC has allocated Rs 12.80 billion to Pakistan for the tournament. The budget was prepared by ICC’s chief finance officer, Ankur Khanna, and PCB’s chief finance officer, Javed Murtaza.

This budget will help the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) renovate the venues in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi for the Champions Trophy 2025. The PCB plans to host the entire tournament in Pakistan, but according to a report by Cricket Pakistan, Team India might play their matches at a neutral venue.

Previously, Pakistan was supposed to host the Asia Cup 2023, but the Indian cricket board decided not to send their team to Pakistan due to safety concerns. As a result, the tournament was played in a hybrid model, with all India matches held in Sri Lanka.

No talks about India-Pakistan Champions Trophy 2025

A senior official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who attended the entire conference, confirmed that there were no talks with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about the Champions Trophy.

“This isn’t a bilateral series where the two boards would discuss things. No conversations happened between us and the PCB about the Champions Trophy. It wasn’t on any of the agendas, so it wasn’t discussed at the AGM either. There’s still time before the event, and the ICC will take care of it,” said a top BCCI official quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
