ICC T20I Rankings: While Virat Kohli and KL Rahul retained their spots in the top 10, Suryakumar Yadav rose 35 spots to No. 21 after his heroics in the 3-match series against the West Indies earlier in February.
The Indian middle-order duo of Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer on Wednesday made huge gains, climbing to 21st and 115th spot respectively, in the latest ICC men’s T20I rankings for batters on the back of their impressive showing against the West Indies. Both the batters enjoyed a sensational series against West Indies, which India had swept 3-0. Suryakumar was India’s highest run-getter in the series while Iyer was second.
Suryakumar Yadav is making rapid strides in international cricket and it is reflected in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Rankings for batters as the Mumbai Indians star rose 35 places to No. 21. In the latest rankings updated on Wednesday, all-rounder Vanketash Iyer also made significant progress in the ICC T20I batting charts.
Suryakumar and Venkatesh played key roles in India’s 3-0 sweep of West Indies in a recently-concluded ICC T20I series in Kolkata. While Suryakumar top-scored in the T20I series for India with 107 runs, Venkatesh was at the second spot with 92 runs. Both the batters had stunning strike rate of over 180 in the 3-match series as India saw their middle-order step up to the occasion.
In the final T20I against the Windies, the two once again bailed India out of trouble from 93/4. Both batters unleashed a barrage of shots against the West Indies bowlers and stitched a 91-run stand in just 37 balls. India posted a competitive total of 184/5, thanks to a stunning 65 off 31 balls from Suryakumar Yadav while Venkatesh Iyer remained unbeaten on 35 off 19.
While Suryakumar has broken into the top 30, Iyer made a massive jump of 203 spots to No.115 in the rankings for batters. West Indies’ lone warrior with the bat, Nicholas Pooran, moved five places to No.13. The left-hander hit the fifties in all three T20Is but his efforts ended in vain.

India skipper Virat Kohli has maintained his fifth spot with 747 rating points while KL Rahul stayed put at sixth in the latest ICC rankings ICC T20I batsmen rankings, released on Wednesday. Both cricketers are currently in England for the upcoming 5-match Test series which begins from August 4 in Nottingham.
Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan, who is leading the Indian team in Sri Lanka, has moved to 29th position following his knock of 46 in the opening match against the hosts on Sunday. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has slipped to the 14th spot.
The likes of Kohli and Rohit trail Babar Azam in the top-10. The Pakistan skipper is placed 2nd with 833 rating points. England’s Dawid Malan continues to lead the chart with a rating of 841.
Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is the lone Indian at seventh in the bowlers’ table. Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has climbed to a career-best ranking of second among T20I bowlers. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who was economical in the first T20I, has gained 10 places to be 21st on the list.
In the ODI rankings, Australia pacerss Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc have rocketed up after the conclusion of the ODI series against West Indies. Hazlewood has surged five places to second place after he took five wickets at 5.80 with an economy of 2.07.
Starc, who took 11 wickets at 10.63 and struck every 14.8 deliveries, climbed 10 spots to eighth with 652 rating points.
In the all-rounder’s list, Ravindra Jadeja remained static at No 9 with 238 rating points. Kohli and Rohit have retained their 2nd and 3rd place respectively, in the batsmen ranking. Azam holds the top spot with 844 points.
India play 3 T20is against Sri Lanka from February 24 to 27.
