Former India opener Virender Sehwag was shocked over a fan’s accurate prediction of Virat Kohli’s innings in his 100th Test match against Sri Lanka in Mohali. A fan on Twitter predicted Kohli’s score and the mode of dismissal and it transpired almost in a similar manner on Day 1 of the ongoing series opener between India and Sri Lanka.

Kohli won’t score a 100 in his 100th test. Will score 45 (100) with 4 gorgeous cover drives and then Embuldeniya will knock his stumps over and he’ll pretend to be shocked and will nod his head in disappointment,” the user wrote on social media at 12:46 AM on Friday.

India vs Sri Lanka: Virat Kohli falls for 45 in his 100th Test match in Mohali

India vs Sri Lanka: Virat Kohli’s wait for his 71st international century continues as the star India batter departed for 45 in his 100th Test in Mohali.

Virat Kohli’s wait for his 71st international century continued as Sri Lanka spinner Lasith Embuldeniya castled the former India captain for 45 in his 100th Test in Mohali. It needed a special delivery to get Kohli in Mohali and Embuldeniya produced just that. Kohli stood there in disbelief before making the long walk back.

It was a fuller ball around the middle and turned away towards the off pole. Kohli tried to defend this, but he got beaten past the outside edge as the ball spun away from him and knocked the off stump. The crowd was stunned but gathered themselves quickly to applaud Virat Kohli off the field.

However, before getting dismissed, Kohli became the 6th Indian batter to amass 8000 runs in Test cricket and the fifth-fastest batter in the country to reach the milestone. Kohli joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar (15921), Rahul Dravid (13288), Sunil Gavaskar (10122), VVS Laxman (8781) and Virender Sehwag (8586) after he went past the 8000-run mark. Overall, Kohli has become the 33rd batter to amass 8000 career runs in Test cricket.

The crowd in the Indian city of Mohali cheered as Kohli walked out to bat after the fall of Agarwal’s wicket and applauded every run that the right-handed batter scored.
