In a setback for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Australia legspinner Adam Zampa has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025 due to a recurrence of a shoulder injury.
Zampa featured in SRH’s first two matches of the season as an Impact Player, returning figures of 1 for 48 and 1 for 46 in high-scoring encounters — including the record-breaking 528-run thriller between SRH and Rajasthan Royals. However, post-match soreness in his bowling arm raised concerns, leading him to miss the next four games.

The issue has resurfaced from a shoulder problem Zampa had struggled with in 2023, just ahead of the ODI World Cup. Back then, he managed a strong comeback, finishing as the tournament’s second-highest wicket-taker and playing a crucial role in Australia’s World Cup triumph.
Hoping for a short break to aid recovery, Zampa flew back to Australia for further medical advice. But with no clear timeline for return, SRH decided to move forward and named 21-year-old Karnataka batter R Smaran as his replacement.
Zampa is now expected to be out of action until Australia’s T20I series against West Indies in the Caribbean, scheduled for late July. With 19 T20 internationals lined up between July and February, Zampa remains a central figure in Australia’s preparations for the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
