Jitesh Sharma Trains Under Dinesh Karthik to Refine T20 Game for RCB

Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Jitesh Sharma has been working closely with team mentor Dinesh Karthik to enhance his skills during the 2025 IPL season. According to Sharma, Karthik has been instrumental in helping him develop a wider range of strokes, particularly targeting improvement in becoming a “360-degree” player.

In a recent match, Sharma scored 40 runs off 19 balls against Mumbai Indians, contributing to RCB’s 12-run victory. This performance follows a series of training sessions held during the off-season, led by Karthik and RCB’s head coach Andy Flower. These camps focused on refining batting technique and match awareness among Indian players.

In IPL 2024, Sharma scored 187 runs in 14 innings at a strike rate of 131. He has shown improved performance in the 2025 season, now averaging over 40 with a strike rate exceeding 150. His contributions have helped stabilize RCB’s lower middle order alongside players like Rajat Patidar and Tim David.

The RCB management has assigned players specific roles based on matchups against opposing bowlers. According to Sharma, each batter is expected to target certain bowlers based on pre-defined strategies.
