The IPL 2025 Orange Cap table saw a shift on Sunday, with Virat Kohli briefly rising to the third spot before Suryakumar Yadav edged past him later in the day. While the Orange Cap standings experienced a change, the Purple Cap table remained largely unchanged after the weekend’s games, with Prasidh Krishna continuing to lead the pack.

Orange Cap Standings

Virat Kohli, after a solid performance in the afternoon match against Punjab Kings (PBKS), moved up to third on the Orange Cap table. Scoring 73* off 54 balls, Kohli helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a comfortable seven-wicket win. This knock took his season tally to 322 runs, maintaining an impressive average of 64.40. However, later in the day, Suryakumar Yadav outshone him with a blistering 68* off 30 balls in MI’s dominant victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Suryakumar’s total now stands at 333 runs, putting him in third place, just behind Nicholas Pooran (368) and B Sai Sudharsan (365).

Kohli’s strike rate of 140.00 is the lowest among the top five, but his consistent run-scoring has kept him in the top rankings. Along with Kohli, Jos Buttler (315) of Rajasthan Royals and Yashasvi Jaiswal (307) are also past the 300-run mark.

Purple Cap Standings

The Purple Cap race saw no major changes, with Prasidh Krishna maintaining his lead at the top with 14 wickets. Other bowlers had opportunities to catch up but failed to take wickets over the weekend. Arshdeep Singh’s lone strike against RCB moved him closer to the top, but he’s still a few wickets behind.

Krishna’s closest challengers are Kuldeep Yadav of Delhi Capitals, Noor Ahmad, Josh Hazlewood, and Shardul Thakur, all with 12 wickets. A group of bowlers, including R Sai Kishore, Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, and Khaleel Ahmed, follow with 11 wickets each.

As the season progresses, both the Orange and Purple Cap races are shaping up to be tightly contested, with Suryakumar Yadav and Prasidh Krishna currently leading their respective categories.
