Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mayank Yadav is nearing a return to full fitness and has resumed bowling at around 90 to 95% intensity at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, according to head coach Justin Langer.

Yadav, who last played competitive cricket in October 2024, is recovering from a back injury and a toe infection. Langer shared that he had seen a video of Mayank bowling recently and noted his progress. “He was bowling at about 90 to 95%. He’s up and running, and that’s great for Indian cricket and the IPL,” said Langer, who remains optimistic about the bowler’s return. Mayank Yadav’s pace had made headlines last season for consistently clocking over 150 kph.

The LSG squad has faced multiple injuries in the fast-bowling department this season. With Avesh Khan and Akash Deep now back in action, the team is gradually regaining strength. Akash Deep played his first match of the season against Mumbai Indians, while Avesh has already featured in three games.

LSG had earlier brought in Shardul Thakur as a replacement for the injured Mohsin Khan. Thakur has made an immediate impact, especially in the match against MI, where he bowled a tight 19th over to help seal the win.
