Mumbai Indians (MI) have signed Raghu Sharma, an uncapped legspinner, as a replacement for injured Vignesh Puthur for IPL 2025. Puthur, who had an impressive debut this season, is out due to bone stress reactions in both his shins.
Puthur made a memorable debut, taking three wickets against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He has picked up six wickets in five games, maintaining an economy rate of 9.08.
A statement from MI confirmed that Puthur will continue his recovery and rehabilitation with the Mumbai Indians medical team.

Raghu Sharma, 32, was part of MI’s net bowlers and joins the main squad at his base price of INR 30 lakh. Like Puthur, this will be Sharma’s first IPL season. He has played domestic cricket for Punjab and Puducherry, taking 57 wickets in 11 first-class matches at an average of 19.59. He has also claimed 14 wickets in nine List A games and three in three T20s.
MI had a slow start to the season, winning only one of their first five games. However, they have bounced back with five consecutive wins and are now third on the points table with 12 points from 10 matches.
