In a recent women’s cricket match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, Shabnim Ismail, a former South African cricketer, made history by bowling the fastest delivery ever recorded in women’s cricket, clocking at 132.1 kph. This impressive feat occurred during the third over of the match, when Ismail’s delivery hit Delhi Capitals’ captain, Meg Lanning, on the pads. Despite Mumbai Indians’ appeal, the umpire ruled in favor of the batswoman.
Shabnim Ismail, known for her quick bowling, previously held the record for the fastest delivery at 128 kph, achieved in 2016 against West Indies, and 127 kph, twice during the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
However, despite her record-breaking delivery, Ismail struggled during the match, conceding 46 runs, including being hit for three consecutive sixes by Shafali Verma.

In the same match, Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues played crucial innings for Delhi Capitals, with Lanning scoring 53 runs off 38 balls and Rodrigues contributing 69 runs off 33 balls. Their strong batting performance helped Delhi Capitals secure a convincing 29-run victory over defending champions Mumbai Indians.
Despite efforts from Amanjot Kaur and Hayley Matthews, Mumbai Indians’ chase fell short, ending with a total of 163 for 8. This defeat marked Mumbai Indians’ second loss in five matches and their second against Delhi Capitals in the history of the tournament.
With this win, Delhi Capitals maintained their position at the top of the points table, moving two points ahead of Mumbai Indians. The victory served as a morale boost for Delhi Capitals, especially after their narrow loss to Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener.
