PBKS vs DC Match Abandoned Due to Floodlight Failure in Dharamsala

The IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala was abandoned after just 10.1 overs due to a significant technical issue with the floodlights at the HPCA Stadium. A power outage in the area caused one of the light towers to malfunction, leading to the game being called off around 9.40 PM IST.

Before the abandonment, PBKS openers Priyansh Arya (70) and Prabhsimran Singh (50*) had put on a dominant display, amassing a 122-run opening stand off just 61 balls. Arya fell on the first ball of the 11th over when he top-edged a T Natarajan slower-ball bouncer onto his helmet, allowing a simple catch. The players left the field shortly after, with the floodlight issue forcing the abandonment.

In the 10.1 overs that were played, Arya and Prabhsimran took on Mitchell Starc and Dushmantha Chameera during the powerplay, racing to 50 for no loss in just four overs. After the powerplay, the duo continued their assault on Kuldeep Yadav, hitting him for two sixes and two fours. Arya reached his third fifty-plus score of the season off just 25 balls in the seventh over, while Prabhsimran achieved his own half-century in the tenth over, becoming the first uncapped batter to score four consecutive half-centuries in the IPL.

As a result of the abandonment, PBKS’s next match against Mumbai Indians (MI) has been moved from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad on May 11. DC will face Gujarat Titans (GT) in Delhi on the same day.
