After a disappointing performance in their previous IPL 2025 match, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) staged a remarkable comeback with a commanding 80-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Leading from the front, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane hailed the team’s turnaround and emphasized the importance of carrying forward the lessons learned from this game.
Speaking after the match, Rahane credited the team’s collective mindset shift, particularly after the early dismissals of openers Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine. He and young Angkrish Raghuvanshi steadied the innings with a crucial 81-run partnership, allowing the lower order to unleash in the final overs. Venkatesh Iyer and Rinku Singh capitalized on the platform, smashing 78 runs in the last five overs to help KKR post a formidable 200/6.

The skipper was especially pleased with the team’s ability to stay in the moment and learn from past mistakes. “This match was a statement. After a couple of disappointing outings, we needed to respond strongly — and we did. This is now a benchmark for our batting unit,” he added.
The win wasn’t just about the batters. KKR’s bowlers — especially Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana — dismantled SRH’s top order during the powerplay. Arora, who came in as the Impact Player, picked up 3 for 29, including the big wickets of Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen. Rana delivered a key breakthrough, dismissing Abhishek Sharma early and setting the tone for the rest of the innings.
Rahane also highlighted the strategic depth in the squad, pointing out that big hitters like Andre Russell, Moeen Ali, and Ramandeep Singh were still in reserve when Rinku and Venkatesh were at the crease.
With this win, KKR not only secured valuable points but also delivered a performance that could shape the rest of their season. As Rahane put it, “It’s about learning and evolving — this game gives us the confidence and clarity we need going forward.”
