Rain Threat Looms Over Mumbai IPL Clash, DC Co-Owner Calls to Shift Match for Fair Play

With heavy rains predicted in Mumbai, Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has asked the IPL to move Wednesday’s crucial game against Mumbai Indians to another city.

This isn’t just any game — it’s a do-or-die battle. If Mumbai wins, they’re in the playoffs. If Delhi wins, the fight for the last spot will go down to the wire, with both teams having one more game against Punjab Kings after this.

The problem? The weather forecast is not in their favor. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, signaling possible heavy showers on match day.

In his email to the IPL, Jindal pointed out that the league recently moved the Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match from Bengaluru to Lucknow due to bad weather. He argued that moving this match too would be fair and consistent.

This comes on the heels of Kolkata Knight Riders’ CEO Venky Mysore voicing frustration about the IPL’s rain rule changes, which weren’t in place when KKR’s first match after the restart got washed out, ending their playoff hopes.

As the tournament reaches its final stretch, weather disruptions are becoming a major factor — and everyone wants clear, consistent rules to keep things fair on the field.
