RCB Extend Winning Run Away from Home as Kohli and Salt Sink Royals

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) continued their winning momentum in IPL 2025 with a dominant nine-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur. The match showcased two contrasting philosophies—RCB’s aggressive, deep-batting approach versus RR’s more conservative setup—and the result highlighted the importance of modern-day T20 flexibility. According to ESPNcricinfo’s full scorecard, RCB chased down 173 with ease, losing only one wicket.

Phil Salt’s explosive 65 off 32 balls set the tone early. He targeted Jofra Archer on the leg side and then adjusted to attack Sandeep Sharma’s off-side line. Salt’s strategy was not just power-based; it was intelligent T20 batting, maximizing shorter boundaries and staying one step ahead of the bowlers. His ability to execute under pressure is why he remains a valuable asset across leagues.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was the standout performer for Rajasthan, scoring a fluent 75 off 47 balls. He played shots all around the wicket and particularly punished spin, consistent with his trend of dominating slower bowlers in recent IPL seasons. According to Jaiswal’s IPL profile on IPLT20.com, he averages well over 45 against spin since 2023 with a strike rate nearing 150. Despite his heroics, RR’s middle-order failed to provide enough support, with Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel struggling to accelerate in the middle overs.

RCB’s strategy of batting depth paid off again. With the likes of Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell unused, their top order had the freedom to play without fear. Virat Kohli’s 62* was a masterclass in chasing—full of controlled aggression, gaps manipulation, and calculated risks. On the bowling side, Krunal Pandya’s tight spell and Yash Dayal’s deceptive slower deliveries disrupted RR’s rhythm. Their performance fits the broader strategy outlined in Cricbuzz’s 2025 RCB team analysis.

What hurt Rajasthan the most, though, were their fielding lapses. Dropping four catches—three of Salt and one of Kohli—was costly, especially in a game defined by fine margins. This wasn’t just a bad day on the field but a structural flaw; RR’s lineup leaves little margin for error. In contrast, RCB’s deep batting and bowling cushion them against such inconsistencies.

In conclusion, RCB’s well-rounded, fearless approach continues to give them an edge in IPL 2025. For RR, a strategic reset may be required if they want to keep pace with the tournament’s top contenders.
