Sanju Samson is down for a chat. He says that he can’t point out where the game changed. Says the bowlers did well and even Jos Buttler and Shimron Hetmyer gave a good finish but it was hard with dew coming up. Adds that Dinesh Karthik has a great experience but they should have taken some time in the field to tackle him. Adds there are many positives to take from the loss.

After getting to a blistering start, Bangalore lost their way out in the middle. Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat provided Bangalore with the perfect start, but once they perished, runs dried up and wickets started to fall. It was the partnership of Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed that guided them over the line. Dinesh Karthik started firing from the word go, while Shahbaz Ahmed put up a great show as well. The duo notched up 67 runs together and put Bangalore in the driver’s seat and they never looked back thereafter. Though Shahbaz Ahmed perished, Dinesh Karthik made sure he gets his side over the line. With this victory, Bangalore have managed to grab two vital points. An emphatic win for Faf du Plessis and his men. (RR vs RCB)

Rajasthan did not have the best start with the ball, they leaked 48 runs in the Powerplay. But they fought back well and grabbed five quick wickets, and put themselves ahead in the game. Rajasthan were all over Bangalore during the middle phase. However, once Dinesh Karthik walked in to bat, the bowlers had no answer to his brutal hitting. Yuzvendra Chahal was the leader of the pack, he grabbed two wickets and gave away just 15 runs in his spell. The first defeat for Rajasthan, however, they do have a few positives to take from this defeat.

From 48 for 0 in the Powerplay to 88 for 5 at the end of 13 overs, to sealing victory with 5 balls to spare. What a dramatic game this has been! But it is Bangalore that have managed to get over the line and they have handed Rajasthan their first defeat of the tournament.

Dinesh Karthik is the Player of the Match. He says he has made a conscious effort and did justice to himself. Adds that he has a goal and he knew he wasn’t done yet. Tells he tries to figure out the situation and stays calm. He has practiced hard and many people have helped him leading to this tournament. Laughs by saying he loves this red and black costume to wear.

“I think I made a conscious effort this year to do justice to myself because last year, I felt I could have done better. The way I trained was much better this time around. Credit to the person who trained with me. I’m making a conscious effort to tell myself that I’m not done yet. When I went in, we needed 12 rpo and had to keep going. I train for these situations. To stay calm and know whom you can take down. I’ve tried to play as much white-ball cricket as possible, and prepare as many scenarios as possible. Lot of people have spent time with me in this journey, leading upto the tournament and it’s the work that goes unnoticed mostly. I think T20 cricket, it’s mostly premeditating but you also need to be clear about where to target.”

To pull it out of nowhere, you need some great characters and DK is as great a character as you can get. His composure under pressure is amazing. He is really calm and such a great asset to us. We bowled really well, upto the 18th over and then Jos got some good shots. Got a score which we thought was a bit above-par with the conditions and the surface spinning a bit. We started quite well though, but then Yuzi (Chahal) bowled really well to get them back in. But for me, the great thing about today once again was our ability to come back to win games out of nowhere. People think that since he (Shahbaz) is a small skinny guy, he can’t hit it long but he can smash it a long way. We didn’t bowl him today because of the wet ball and left-hander being around but he’ll definitely play a long part in this season. (RR vs RCB)
