Essex won a big cricket match against Nottinghamshire by 254 runs. Sam Cook was the star, taking six wickets in the final day.

“I’m really happy with how I bowled this week, especially with the Kookaburra ball,” Cook said. “There were doubts about how I’d perform with it, but I’m focused on doing well for Essex and hopefully getting a chance to play for England.”

Essex set Nottinghamshire a target of 335 runs to win but bowled them out for just 80. Cook’s teammate, Jamie Porter, also took crucial wickets. However, there’s some concern as one of Nottinghamshire’s players might face a points deduction for using a bat that didn’t meet the size regulations.
Essex declared their second innings closed early on the final day and added some quick runs. Then, their bowlers took charge, dismissing Nottinghamshire’s batsmen one after another. Cook was exceptional, taking six wickets in the innings.
“It was a great team effort,” Sam Cook said. “We showed our determination to win, even though the match wasn’t one-sided until the final day.”
