Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson has been fined ₹24 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate during their match against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad.

According to Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, a captain incurs a fine of ₹24 lakh for a second over-rate offence in a season. All other members of the playing XII, including the Impact Player, will be fined ₹6 lakh or 25% of their match fee, whichever is lower.

This marks RR’s second over-rate violation in IPL 2025. The first offence occurred under Riyan Parag’s captaincy in a match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), during which Samson was not leading the side due to a finger injury. He was part of the playing XI only as an Impact Player in that match.

RR have played five matches so far this season, with two wins and three losses, and currently sit seventh on the IPL 2025 points table.
