Gujarat Titans continued their strong start to the season with a clinical seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, handing SRH their fourth consecutive defeat in IPL 2025. The damage was done early by Mohammed Siraj, who returned with his career-best IPL figures of 4 for 17 on a slow, black-soil pitch in Hyderabad.

SRH’s innings stuttered from the outset. Travis Head fell to Siraj after two boundaries, and Abhishek Sharma followed soon after. SRH only managed to hit their first six in the 13th over, reflecting a lack of intent and execution through the innings.

Siraj’s Show

Siraj’s spell was fiery and full of intent. The battle with Travis Head, who had clashed with him during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, lasted just five balls. Siraj removed Head with a wobble-seam delivery that was chipped to midwicket.

Abhishek was next to fall, miscuing one to mid-on. It was Siraj’s 100th IPL wicket and his sixth in the powerplay this season, with an economy rate of 6.27 in that phase. He returned at the death to clean up Aniket Verma and Impact Player Simarjeet Singh.

Rashid vs Sai Kishore

It was another forgettable day for Rashid Khan, who went wicketless for a third straight match. Despite a tight start, he finished with 0 for 31, taking his tournament tally to just one wicket in 14 overs at an economy of 10.21.

In contrast, R Sai Kishore was outstanding. He bowled with control, skidded one past Klaasen’s bat to castle him, and dismissed Nitish Reddy to finish with 2 for 24.

Washington Turns It Around

Washington Sundar, brought into the XI perhaps for his bowling, didn’t get to roll his arm—but he made a statement with the bat. Promoted to No. 4, Washington smashed 23 off 9 in the powerplay, including two sixes and two fours off Simarjeet.

His batting was reminiscent of his TNPL days, when he used to open and play aggressively. He even took on Kamindu Mendis with a cheeky loft over extra-cover. Washington seemed on track for a fifty, but fell for 49, one short of his first IPL half-century.

Gill Guides the Chase

With Washington setting the tone, skipper Shubman Gill anchored the chase with a calm and composed 61 not out. Alongside Sherfane Rutherford’s explosive 35* off 16, Gill ensured GT chased down 153 with ease.
