Despite 420 runs scored and 16 wickets falling, the key standings on the Orange Cap and Purple Cap leaderboards saw little immediate change. Here’s a quick update on where the top run-scorers and wicket-takers stand — and what might shift going forward.

Orange Cap Race

Before RCB’s previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was washed out, Virat Kohli was just behind the leading run-getters. But with six days between that no-result and Friday’s game, several batsmen overtook him on the leaderboard.

Kohli’s return to the crease saw him look in fine touch, scoring 43 runs off 25 balls and outscoring Phil Salt in an opening partnership of 80. However, that effort wasn’t enough to push him back into the top five — he currently sits at No. 6 with 548 runs from 12 innings.

Still, Kohli’s form this season suggests he won’t stay out of the top ranks for long, especially with two players just ahead of him — Rajasthan Royals’ Yashasvi Jaiswal and Lucknow Super Giants’ Mitchell Marsh — out of playoff contention.

Leading the Orange Cap table are Gujarat Titans’ openers B Sai Sudharsan (638 runs) and Shubman Gill (636 runs), followed by Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav with 583 runs in third.

Purple Cap Standings

Josh Hazlewood remains RCB’s leading wicket-taker with 18 scalps but has been absent lately, meaning no addition to his tally. He holds fourth place on the Purple Cap list, behind Gujarat Titans’ Prasidh Krishna and Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmad, both with 21 wickets, and Mumbai Indians’ Trent Boult with 18.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Delhi Capitals (DC) clash, keep an eye on PBKS pacer Arshdeep Singh, who currently has 16 wickets.
