Harmeet Singh, who played for India in the Under-19 World Cup in 2010 and 2012, is now part of the USA’s 15-player squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Canada, starting from April 7.
The USA team, also hosting the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, will compete in all matches at the Prairie View Cricket Complex (PVCC) in Houston, Texas.
Singh, a former player for Mumbai and Rajasthan Royals, made history as the first-ever draft pick in Major League Cricket (MLC) by the Seattle Orcas. He captained the Minor League Cricket (MiLC) team Seattle Thunderbolts to victory in 2022.
Having represented India in two Under-19 World Cups, Singh played a key role in India’s championship win in 2012. In 2013, he was investigated by the BCCI during the IPL spot-fixing scandal but was later cleared of any involvement.
Unmukt Chand Not Picked in USA Squad
Surprisingly, India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning captain, Unmukt Chand, isn’t part of the squad. Despite performing well with the bat in three MiLC seasons, scoring over 1500 runs in 45 innings, he was still left out.

Corey Anderson Makes it
Another notable addition to the squad is former New Zealand player Corey Anderson, who last played for New Zealand in 2018. He showed his skills in the MiLC, scoring 900 runs in 28 innings with a strike rate of 146. Also joining the squad are former Delhi and Royal Challengers Bangalore player Milind Kumar, former Canada captain Nitish Kumar, and former South African domestic players Andries Gous and Shadley Van Schalkwyk.
Monank Patel will lead the squad, with Aaron Jones as his deputy. Commenting on the squad selection, USA captain Monank Patel said, “With the ICC T20 World Cup approaching, these matches are crucial for our team. We have some new faces joining us, and these games will help us find the right combinations and prepare well for the World Cup.”
