{"id":2812,"date":"2022-04-23T13:13:48","date_gmt":"2022-04-23T13:13:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/totalcric.com\/?p=2812"},"modified":"2022-04-23T13:13:51","modified_gmt":"2022-04-23T13:13:51","slug":"ipl-2022-hands-rishabh-pant-and-shardul-thakur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/totalcric.com\/ipl-2022-hands-rishabh-pant-and-shardul-thakur\/","title":{"rendered":"No-ball row: IPL 2022 hands Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur heavy fines; Pravin Amre suspended for a match"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>MUMBAI: Captain\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/Rishabh-Pant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rishabh Pant<\/a>\u00a0was on Saturday fined 100 per cent of his match fee, while assistant coach Pravin Amre was handed a one-match ban for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/Delhi-Capitals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Delhi Capitals<\/a>&#8216; 15-run loss to\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/sports\/cricket\/ipl\/top-stories\/ipl-auction-2018-complete-ipl-squad-of-rajasthan-royals\/articleshow\/62685110.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rajasthan Royals<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides the one match ban, Amre was also fined his entire match fees, while DC pacer\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/Shardul-Thakur\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shardul Thakur<\/a>\u00a0too has been penalised 50 per cent of his match-fees, IPL said in a release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trio were penalised for their conduct during the controversial final over of the match in which Delhi Capitals required 36 runs to win on Friday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Needing 36 runs for a win off the final over, DC batter Rovman Powell hit three successive sixes from the first three deliveries, including the third ball which was a hip-high full-toss from Obed McCoy, to bring the equation down to 18 runs from the final three balls.<br>However, the DC camp demanded that the third ball be called a\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/no-ball\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no ball<\/a>\u00a0for height with Rishabh Pant asking his batters &#8212; Powell and Kuldeep Yadav to walk out and assistant coach Amre stepping on to the playing arena to speak to the umpire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rishabh Pant admitted to the &#8220;Level 2 offence&#8221; under Article 2.7 of the IPL Code of Conduct and &#8220;accepted the sanction&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/RRvsDC?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#RRvsDC<\/a> <br>JOS THE BOSS hit 116 runs for RR but Delhi was still on the game \ud83d\udd25 until Powell was on the strike but the real Googly was given by Nitin Menon not giving No Ball, later <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/RishabhPant?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#RishabhPant<\/a> started calling his players back to pavilion \ud83d\udc47DC fans chanted Cheater Cheater <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/e9g9MLbldG\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/e9g9MLbldG<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Twinkle Agrawal (@Twinkle_Agrawl) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Twinkle_Agrawl\/status\/1517692446896918528?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">April 23, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Thakur also accepted the sanction for the &#8220;Level 2 offence under Article 2.8&#8221; of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction.<br>Handed a one-match ban, Amre too &#8220;admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction.&#8221;<br>It started with Kuldeep, who was at the non-striker&#8217;s end, gesturing to the umpires to check for a possible no-ball on height after the third delivery. Powell joined in having a chat with the umpires too. In their 7 matches played so far, DC have only won 3. However, he is fined his 100 percent match fee for his actions but as per the rulebook, he could have faced a minimum of 2 match bans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, a repeat of such incident by any of the offenders that have been fined already can cause a match ban of upto 6 to 8 matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Level 2 offence as per rule book reads: &#8220;The imposition of a fine of between 50-100% of applicable Match Fee and\/or a suspension of up to two (2) Matches.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clearly, Shardul and his teammates have to be careful with their actions now in the upcoming matches as they will face heavy consequences if they repeat such offence.
