But with the selectors keen to invest in young blood, it will be interesting to see how Rohit sees his ODI career. Rohit will be nearly 40 by the time the next ODI World Cup arrives in South Africa in 2027. The next big ODI tournament will be the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025 which is scheduled to be held in Pakistan. In the next one year, India are slated to play only six ODIs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>ODI Career Crossroads<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite playing incredibly well in the recently concluded ODI World Cup, India failed to win the cup following a poor batting performance on the night of the finals. However, Rohit Sharma has been lauded for his captaincy in the tournament and the fearless brand of cricket he played in the tournament. However, with the end of the World Cup, the BCCI officials are eager to set the roadmap for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Champions Trophy Conundrum<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As per sources close to The Times of India, Rohit has already communicated to chief selector Ajit Agarkar and other officials that he is fine with not being considered for T20Is. However, winning the ODI World Cup was always the dream for the 36-year-old. By the time the tournament returns, Rohit will be 40, which may force him to sit out. However, the Champions Trophy is just two years away, and that is something that the Nagpur-born can consider. With Hardik Pandya prone to injuries, selectors may look for options in ODIs,\u201d a source told The Times of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>BCCI&#8217;s Plan Unveiled<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Indian skipper Rohit Sharma&#8217;s T20I career has seemingly come to a close, with a decision on his ODI captaincy also to be taken in a few weeks&#8217; time after India&#8217;s loss to Australia in the World Cup finals. According to a report in The Times of India, the biggest topic of discussion in the BCCI now will be about being clear on Rohit&#8217;s white-ball future besides grooming a skipper for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Road Ahead<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With the selectors keen to invest in young blood, it needs to be seen how Rohit perceives his ODI career moving forward. By the 2027 ODI World Cup, he will be 40 and is unlikely to feature in that competition.
