The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 has reached a thrilling stage, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fighting for survival in the playoff race. Despite a strong start to their title defense, RCB’s campaign has hit a rough patch after losing all four matches at their home ground in Bengaluru. With only four points from six games, RCB must win their remaining two matches—against UP Warriorz and Mumbai Indians (MI)—to stay in contention. However, even that may not be enough as net run rate (NRR) battles and results from other matches could determine their fate.

Must-Win Scenario for RCB

RCB’s playoff hopes hinge on their ability to secure victories in both of their remaining games. A loss against UP Warriorz on Saturday would officially eliminate them from the race. If they win, they’ll need to closely monitor the MI vs. Gujarat Giants match, as their final game against MI will likely come down to an NRR showdown.

Currently, RCB is nearly 60 runs behind MI’s NRR. To surpass them, RCB would need to beat UP Warriorz by ten runs and then defeat MI by 20 runs, provided MI loses to Giants by the same margin. Overhauling Gujarat Giants’ NRR will be even tougher, requiring a collective margin of 62 runs across their last two games if Giants lose narrowly to MI.

Are Delhi Capitals Guaranteed a Top Spot?

Delhi Capitals (DC), with ten points, have secured their place in the playoffs but are yet to confirm a direct spot in the final. Both MI and Giants can leapfrog DC if results go their way. For instance:

  • Mumbai Indians : Can finish on top if they win both their remaining matches.
  • Gujarat Giants : Need to beat MI by at least 17 runs or wrap up the game 12 balls early (for a first-innings total of 180) to surpass DC’s NRR.

On the other hand, MI is about 30 runs behind DC’s NRR. If they lose one match by ten runs, they’d need to win the other by around 40 runs to claim the top spot.

Key Matchups to Watch

With so much at stake, every match in the final leg of WPL 2025 promises high drama. Here are the key matchups:

  1. UP Warriorz vs. RCB : A must-win for RCB to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Read more on Cricbuzz .
  2. Gujarat Giants vs. MI : This clash could decide who finishes on top and secures a direct berth in the final.

As the tournament heats up, fans can expect nail-biting finishes and intense competition. Will RCB pull off a miraculous comeback, or will DC, Giants, or MI dominate the proceedings? The next few days will provide answers.
