There was some movement on the Purple Cap table following the match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Kolkata on May 7, 2025. While there were no changes at the top of the Orange Cap leaderboard, CSK’s Noor Ahmad made significant strides up the Purple Cap rankings.

Purple Cap Table:
Noor Ahmad, who claimed 4 wickets for 31 runs against KKR, has leveled with Gujarat Titans’ (GT) Prasidh Krishna at the top of the Purple Cap table, with both players having taken 20 wickets. However, Prasidh Krishna retains the Purple Cap due to his superior economy rate of 7.65 compared to Noor’s 8.02.

Other Standouts:

  • Josh Hazlewood (RCB) and Trent Boult (MI) are tied in third place with 18 wickets each, with Hazlewood having the better economy rate.
  • Varun Chakravarthy (KKR) has climbed to fifth place, following his impressive 2 wickets for 18 runs against CSK, bringing his tally to 17 wickets from 12 matches.

Orange Cap Table:

  • Suryakumar Yadav (MI) continues to lead the Orange Cap race with 510 runs from 12 innings.
  • B Sai Sudharsan (GT) is just one run behind him with 509 runs, while Shubman Gill (GT) holds third place with 508 runs from 11 innings.
  • Virat Kohli (RCB) is close behind with 505 runs, while Jos Buttler (GT) rounds out the top five with 500 runs.

As the tournament progresses, both the Orange and Purple Cap races are heating up, with standout performances continuing to shape the leaderboard.
