In Bengaluru on March 3rd, leg-spin all-rounder Amelia Kerr, who played a crucial role in Mumbai Indians’ victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2024 WPL match on Saturday, commended Nat Sciver-Brunt for her exceptional leadership in the absence of Harmanpreet Kaur.
Nat made her WPL captaincy debut after Mumbai’s loss to UP Warriorz earlier in the week. Despite the initial setback, she managed the bowlers effectively, disrupting RCB’s batting lineup and restricting them to 131/6. Mumbai successfully chased down the target in 15.1 overs.
“Nat has been amazing,” remarked Amelia. “Harman has been an incredible leader for Mumbai, but Nat’s stepping up has been outstanding. She brings a level-headed and calm approach, with a great cricketing brain. Tonight’s performance was exceptional, and it’s been great having her leadership.”

Reflecting on Mumbai’s turnaround after the loss to UP Warriorz, Amelia highlighted the team’s resilience. “No one goes out to lose, but in a tournament with many games, losses are part of the journey. It’s about learning and adapting. We reviewed our game and focused on being more aggressive with bat and ball, which showed today. Our improved fielding performance was a testament to our commitment and energy.”
Amelia Kerr credited the positive attitude of the fielders for Mumbai’s improved fielding display. “Fielding is all about attitude. You want the ball, and that’s what drives us. We showed that energy and commitment today, going for every opportunity. That’s how you turn things around – by backing yourself and giving your all.”
She concluded by expressing satisfaction in silencing the partisan crowd at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. “The atmosphere was electric, with the crowd backing RCB. When we started well and got a good partnership, it was rewarding to quieten them. Playing in such an atmosphere is what we love about coming to India.”
