Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam has confirmed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is waiting for government approval before confirming India’s upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh.
India are scheduled to visit Bangladesh for three ODIs and three T20Is starting August 17, but the series is now in doubt due to the current political situation.
“We’re having positive discussions with the BCCI,” Aminul told reporters after BCB’s 19th board meeting at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday (June 30).
“It’s not just about August or September. We’re exploring all options to hold the series, and if it can’t happen now, we’ll look for another possible window. They (BCCI) are waiting for some government clearance,” he explained.
Bangladesh and India last played a white-ball series in September–October 2024.
Simon Taufel Appointed to Lead Umpire Education

In a significant development, BCB has signed former elite ICC umpire Simon Taufel to head umpire education in Bangladesh under a three-year contract.
“We’ve nearly finalized the agreement with Simon, and he and his team will work to educate our umpires,” Aminul said.
Plans for Women Selectors and Expansion of Selection Panel
The board also announced plans to appoint a woman selector for the national women’s team, which is currently overseen solely by Sazzad Ahmed.
“We have decided to include women selectors soon,” Aminul stated.
Additionally, BCB is looking to expand the men’s national selection panel, which currently comprises Gazi Ashraf and Abdur Razzak.
“It is difficult for two selectors to cover everything. We are also considering adding another selector to the panel,” Aminul noted.
BPL Next Season to Start in December-January
BCB plans to host the next edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) between December and January.
The board has decided to engage a professional event management company to organize the tournament, which will start a new cycle. Franchises are expected to sign five-year agreements with the board for this next phase.
