West Indies cricketer Dwayne Bravo has announced that he will retire from franchise Twenty20 cricket.

Bravo, who is 40 years old, shared on Instagram that this year’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will be his final tournament. He had already retired from the Indian Premier League before the 2023 season after winning four titles with Chennai Super Kings.

The T20 star also retired from international cricket after the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE.

Bravo will play for the Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL 2024, with their first game on Sunday against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

In T20 cricket, Bravo holds the record for the most wickets, with 630 in 578 matches. He has also scored 6,970 runs.

Dwayne Bravo, who has been with the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) since the team’s start in 2013, has announced his retirement from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). After more than a decade with TKR, during which he played over 100 matches and took 128 wickets, Bravo has decided to step away.

As the top wicket-taker in CPL history, Bravo’s retirement is a big moment for the league. In his emotional farewell on August 31st, the 40-year-old shared his wish to finish his playing career as a TKR all-rounder, thanking the franchise for kickstarting his CPL journey back in 2013.
