Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, two of India’s greatest modern cricketers, could make their final appearances on English soil in 2026. The English Cricket Board (ECB), in partnership with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), confirmed on July 24 that Team India will tour England next year for a white-ball series.

This news comes after fans were left disappointed earlier this year. Both Rohit and Kohli retired from Test cricket just weeks before the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, missing what might have been their final red-ball appearances in England. However, their ODI careers remain active, and they are aiming to play in the 2027 World Cup.

India’s 2026 England Tour Schedule Announced

The 2026 tour will include five T20 Internationals followed by three One Day Internationals. Here’s the full schedule:

T20I Series

  • July 1 – 1st T20I, Banks Homes Riverside, Durham – 11 PM IST
  • July 4 – 2nd T20I, Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester – 7 PM IST
  • July 7 – 3rd T20I, Trent Bridge, Nottingham – 11 PM IST
  • July 9 – 4th T20I, Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol – 11 PM IST
  • July 11 – 5th T20I, Utilita Bowl, Southampton – 11 PM IST

ODI Series

  • July 14 – 1st ODI, Edgbaston, Birmingham – 5:30 PM IST
  • July 16 – 2nd ODI, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff – 5:30 PM IST
  • July 19 – 3rd ODI, Lord’s, London – 3:30 PM IST

These ODIs could mark the end of Kohli and Rohit’s careers in England. Since stepping away from T20Is and Tests, ODIs are now their main focus. Both are expected to build toward one final World Cup push in 2027.

Upcoming Matches for Team India

Before heading to England, India has nine ODIs lined up. The team will travel to Australia for an away series in October. Then they’ll host South Africa and New Zealand between December and January.

England’s 2026 Cricket Season

England will also have a packed home calendar. The ECB has confirmed Test series against New Zealand and Pakistan, with each team playing three matches. Later in the season, Sri Lanka will visit for three T20Is and three ODIs.
