In the wake of Delhi Capitals’ 14-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders, former West Indies captain Daren Ganga highlighted the missed opportunity of not using Kuldeep Yadav, India’s premier wristspinner, throughout his full quota of overs. Despite Kuldeep’s proven ability to take wickets, DC captain Axar Patel introduced him late, in the 11th over, after KKR had already established a solid platform.
Ganga emphasized that Kuldeep, regardless of his form on the day, should always bowl his full four overs. He argued that using Kuldeep in the powerplay could have provided the necessary breakthrough, especially with KKR’s aggressive start. By the time Kuldeep was introduced, KKR had already scored 79 for 1 in the powerplay, setting up a strong foundation for a challenging target.

Ambati Rayudu also noted Kuldeep’s recent success against left-handed batters and suggested that his inclusion early on could have had a significant impact on KKR’s momentum. Ultimately, the lack of spin in the early overs allowed KKR to gain control, which DC couldn’t regain.
