RCB captain Faf du Plessis fined Rs 12 lakhs for slow over-rate, LSG’s Avesh Khan reprimanded

RCB Captain Faf du Plessis has been fined Rs 12 lakhs fine after Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) maintained a slow over rate during their IPL 2023 match against the Lucknow Super Giants at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday.

“The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match 15 against the Lucknow Super Giants at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, on Monday,” the IPL said in a statement.

“As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, captain Faf du Plessis was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” it added.

Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) speedster Avesh Khan has been reprimanded for breaching the Code of Conduct.

Avesh, who came to bat at number 11, was seen throwing his helmet on the ground after completing the winning run in the last delivery of the game. Avesh admitted to level 1 offence 2.2 of IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.

IPL 2023 RCB vs LSG preview: Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) will aim to bounce back from a royal thrashing at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) when they take on the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday.

RCB began IPL 2023 in style with an eight-wicket hammering of five-time champions Mumbai Indians on home turf, with skipper Faf du Plessis and batting superstar Virat Kohli stitching a solid 148-run opening stand to help the team chase down the 172-run target set by Rohit Sharma and Co with eight wickets and nearly four overs to spare.

Bangalore similarly were firmly in control against KKR at the Eden Gardens in their second outing, reducing the two-time winners to 89/5 before a whirlwind partnership between Shardul Thakur (68) and Rinku Singh (46) turned the game on its head. The Kolkata spin trio of Varun Chakravarthy, Suyash Sharma and Sunil Narine then decimated their batting order as they were bundled out for 123 after being set 205 to win.
