IPL 2024

Sunil Narine shares fake post mocking RCB on his Instagram account, leaving fans utterly confused

Sunil Narine posted something on his Instagram account, claiming he said certain things, but he never actually said them.

Sunil Narine was the star of the show on Wednesday when he led Kolkata Knight Riders to a massive 106-run victory over the Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2024 match in Vizag. Sunil Narine opened the batting and played a brilliant inning, scoring 85 runs off just 39 balls. He hit seven fours and seven sixes, helping KKR reach a total of 272/7 in 20 overs, which is now the second-highest total in IPL history.

The West Indies player was in fantastic form, and he was well supported by Angrish Raghuvanshi, who also scored a half-century with 54 runs off 27 balls. Fans were thrilled with Narine’s batting performance, proving why KKR trusted him to bat higher up the order.

However, before the match against DC, Narine made headlines for a different reason. He shared a post on his Instagram story from an unverified page, which falsely attributed quotes to him. According to the post, Narine supposedly commented after KKR’s win against RCB, saying, “I like scoring runs against RCB because they have a weak bowling department.”

The post was in Hindi, and it’s likely that Narine, who may not be fluent in the language, didn’t understand its content.

In the cricket match, Delhi Capitals (DC) had to chase a total of 273 runs, but they couldn’t make it and got out at 166 runs in just 17.2 overs. Despite good batting efforts from Rishabh Pant (55 runs) and Tristan Stubbs (54 runs), they couldn’t reach the target. Narine, who also bowled for the opposing team, managed to get one wicket. Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakaravarthy from the opposing team took three wickets each.

In another match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Narine from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) showed great batting skills again. KKR had to chase 183 runs, and they sent Narine to open the batting with Phil Salt. Narine scored 47 runs off just 22 balls, hitting two fours and five sixes. This helped KKR a lot, and they reached the target of 186 runs with seven wickets remaining, winning the match.
