Kolkata Knight Riders‘ young player, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, made quite an entrance into the Indian Premier League with a bold half-century against the Delhi Capitals in his first ever inning. Although Raghuvanshi didn’t get a chance to bat in his IPL debut match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, he showed his talent on Wednesday with some impressive shots all over the ground at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
Raghuvanshi came in to bat at number 3 after Phil Salt got out early, and without wasting any time, he started hitting boundaries right away. He played alongside Sunil Narine, and together they caused havoc for the Delhi Capitals’ bowling attack.
The 18-year-old scored 54 runs off 27 balls at a strike rate of 200, hitting 5 fours and three sixes. He and Narine (85) built a partnership of 104 runs, setting a strong foundation for Kolkata Knight Riders after their captain, Shreyas Iyer, chose to bat first.
Unfortunately, Angkrish Raghuvanshi was dismissed by South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje while attempting another big shot.

Who is Angkrish Raghuvanshi?
Raghuvanshi was born on June 5, 2005, in Delhi. When he was just 11 years old, he moved to Mumbai and started training under Abhishek Nayar & Omkar Salvi. He plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket and is known for his all-round skills. Besides batting, he’s also a useful left-arm orthodox bowler.
The talented youngster caught everyone’s eye during the 2022 U-19 World Cup. He scored 278 runs and played a key role in India’s championship win under captain Yash Dhull. He made his List A and T20 debut in 2023 and had a great run in the CK Nayudu Trophy, scoring 765 runs in nine matches. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) noticed his talent and included him in their auction list. The two-time champions spent INR 20 lakh to sign him, reuniting him with his childhood coach Abhishek Nayar at the franchise.
