Vaibhav Suryavanshi has done it yet again. At just 14 years old, he seems to have developed an extraordinary habit of shattering records. While he has already made headlines for his exploits with the bat, this time it was his bowling that stole the spotlight in the ongoing Youth Test against England.

On the second day of the match, Suryavanshi etched his name in the record books by becoming the youngest player ever to take a wicket in a Youth Test. He achieved this remarkable feat when he dismissed England U-19 captain Hamza Shaikh, who was batting on 84. At 14 years and 107 days, Suryavanshi now holds a record that may stand unchallenged for years.

Bowling his left-arm spin with remarkable composure, he went on to pick up another crucial wicket, removing Thomas Rew for 34. He wrapped up his spell with impressive figures of 2 for 35 in 12 overs, helping India bowl out England for 439 and secure a lead of 101 runs.

This performance with the ball comes on the heels of Suryavanshi’s outstanding batting display in the ODI series, where India U-19 clinched a 3-2 victory over England. In that series, he amassed 355 runs, including a century and a half-century, finishing as the standout performer.

Suryavanshi’s run tally is the fifth-highest ever recorded in a bilateral Youth ODI series and the second-best by an opener. Even more remarkable, he became the first player in U-19 ODI history to score over 300 runs in a series while maintaining a strike rate above 150.

Below are the records highlighting just how extraordinary his achievement is:

Best Strike Rate in a Youth ODI Series (Minimum 200 Runs)

Pulindu Perera (Sri Lanka)239139.76Pakistan20233
Saleem Elashi (Pakistan)201124.84New Zealand19953

At this rate, the sky truly seems to be the limit for this prodigious young talent. Whether with bat or ball, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is already proving he has what it takes to be a future star of Indian cricket.
