IPL 2022 Highlights, SRH vs GT: Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday beat a formidable Gujarat Titans side by eight wickets at the DY Patil Sports Academy. Chasing 163 for the win, Kane Williamson notched up a well-paced half-century to help his side reach the total with five balls to spare. On the bowling front, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan took two wickets apiece while Marco Jansen and Umran Malik got one each. Bhuvneshwar removed in-form Shubman Gill (7) to strike early, Natarajan and Umran Malik removed Sai Sudharsan (11) and Matthew Wade (19) respectively. Marco Jansen affected further damage by removing David Miller on 12. Hardik Pandya then notched up his 4th IPL fifty and Abhinav Manohar scored 35, helping the Titans reach 162/7 in 20 overs. In response, Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma put up a strong opening stand before the latter perished on 42. But Kane went on to score a vital fifty to keep his team in the contest. Nicholas Pooran added finishing touches with 18-ball 34.

“The first over – it went wrong for us, but having said that, I felt that we restricted them really good. Dropped catches – that’s something we have to work on. 160-odd on that wicket was fabulous and all our bowlers did their part,” says Nicholas Pooran.

Gujarat have dropped fifth on the points table. Hyderabad are currently eighth with fours points under their belt.

Natarajan was yet again the standout bowler for Hyderabad, claiming 2 for 34. Bhuvneshwar recovered well from a poor start to finish with decent figures of 2 for 37. Jansen also impressed with some tight bowling, finishing with 1 for 27.

When Hyderabad batted, Williamson guided the chase with a fine half-century. Abhishek and Pooran came up with some good supporting acts.

For Gujarat, Pandya made a defiant fifty while Manohar contributed a chancy 35. Pandya (1/27) and Rashid (1/28) kept things tight with the ball.
