“The FIR has been lodged against 10 people, including former TCA secretary Tapan Ghosh, former vice president Timir Chanda, and former treasurer Jaylal Das, following a Special Investigating Team (SIT) finding evidence suggesting financial irregularities,” explained Inspector General (IG) of Intelligence, L Darlong.

According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Intelligence, Krishnendu Chakraborty, the Crime Branch initiated the case after a three-member SIT probed the accusations.

“It appears that the financial misconduct occurred during the installation of floodlights at MBB stadium between 2022-23 and 2023-24 financial years. Initially estimated at Rs 10 crore, the irregularities may rise,” Chakraborty disclosed.

In response to the FIR, Tapas Ghosh stated on Thursday that he hadn’t received a copy of the complaint from the Crime Branch.

“I’ll address the allegations once I’ve received the FIR. It’s evident there’s a group within TCA with ulterior motives aiming to tarnish cricket’s reputation in our state. I’ll confront this legally,” Ghosh asserted.
