Multan Sultans continued their impressive streak in PSL 2024 with a convincing win over Karachi Kings. The match, held at the National Stadium on Sunday, saw Sultans secure their sixth victory in seven matches, sealing their spot in the playoffs.

Led by Usman Khan’s outstanding unbeaten century off just 59 balls and Mohammad Rizwan’s solid 58 off 44 deliveries, Sultans posted a challenging total of 189/3. Karachi Kings struggled against Sultans’ collective bowling effort, managing only 169/7 in their 20 overs, resulting in their fourth loss in six matches.

Sultans faced an early setback when Reeza Hendricks departed in the second over. However, Usman Khan’s aggressive batting ensured a strong start during the powerplay, with Sultans reaching 50/1 after six overs. While Rizwan played a more reserved role, Usman continued to score boundaries, guiding their partnership past 50 as Sultans reached 87/1 at the halfway mark.

Usman reached his fifty off just 32 balls, followed by Rizwan reaching his milestone off 40 deliveries. Their partnership flourished, nearing the 150-run mark. Despite losing Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed, Usman remained unbeaten, smashing a remarkable century with 10 fours and 5 sixes.

Karachi Kings’ chase started on a shaky note, losing Tim Seifert and James Vince early. Shan Masood and Shoaib Malik attempted to stabilize the innings, but Masood’s dismissal left Kings struggling at 79/3 halfway through their innings. Despite efforts from Malik and Leus du Plooy, Kings lost wickets in quick succession, eventually falling short as Sultans clinched a 20-run victory.

The win solidified Multan Sultans’ position at the top of the points table, reaffirming their status as a strong contender in the tournament.
